Tarji Smedley is a commercial, fashion, lifestyle, photojournalist, stylist and photo art director… yes, all of the above. Tarji has been in love with the arts from a very early age. Her original intention was to become a model and fashion designer; however she never grew past 5’1, so being a fashion model was not an option. In high school it became apparent that photography was her passion.

Tarji’s devotion to the arts continued into Columbia College where she graduated with a dual Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and Advertising. Upon completing a seven-year career as an account executive for AT&T, Tarji incorporated her first business, Egami Photos, in 2004. She quickly became known for her photojournalism and is a sought after photographer for celebrity events, including private events for the likes of Michael Jordan and Derrick Rose.

Tarji expanded and renamed her business to Sugar Shack Productions in 2010. Sugar Shack Productions, Inc’s service offerings include art direction, videography, editorial and e-commerce photography of products, fashion (on and off figure) and food. Her mission is to support small businesses by providing cost efficient high quality photography supported her dedicated team of talented stylist.

Tarji currently resides in Chicago but is available to clients nationwide. Her work has been featured in art exhibitions, magazines and advertisements.
